Letter: Dems out to get Kavanaugh

To the Editor:

Once again, the Democrats are doing what they do best: Trying to destroy the life of a candidate for the Supreme Court. First, there was Robert Bork, savagely attacked by Sen. Ted Kennedy. He’s the same Ted Kennedy who left a woman to die in the pond near Chappaquiddick; the Democrats had no problem with Kennedy’s behavior. Next, they tried to destroy Clarence Thomas.

Now, it’s Brett Kavanaugh’s turn to be savaged by the party that masquerades as the party of civility. They welcomed and encouraged rioters into the Senate chamber during the hearings. They treated the committee chairman and Mr. Kavanaugh with an unconscionable amount of rudeness and disrespect.

When they could find nothing to disqualify him after days of questioning and six FBI checks, Sen. Dianne Feinstein introduced a letter by Professor Christine Blasey Ford claiming she was assaulted by Mr. Kavanaugh 35 years ago, a letter she has had in her possession for several months. But she claims she doesn’t know if the charges are true or not. The claims are unsubstantiated and unprovable.

The committee has agreed to hear both sides of the issue, but Professor Ford refuses to testify under oath. Why would that be? People are willing to believe her rather than the 65 women who have known and worked with Mr. Kavanaugh and testify to his decency and respect toward woman. We have come to a point where we are no longer innocent until proven guilty. How sad is that!
