Huntley High School placed on soft lockdown during routine parking lot check

Huntley High School was on a soft lockdown Wednesday morning as police completed a routine parking lot check, District 158 officials said Wednesday morning.

No one was allowed to leave or enter the building while the search was underway.

“[This is] a routine scheduled check of the parking lot with police dogs,” District 158’s Director of Communications and Engagement Dan Armstrong said in an email to the Northwest Herald. “We do not notify folks of this as that would defeat the purpose.”

There is no emergency or suspicious activity, he said.
