To the Editor:
I can’t believe the McHenry Township trustees. Someone should ask, who has oversight over them? Since they have taken office, the legal fees paid by the township have skyrocketed! FOIA the information. Prior to them taking office in spring 2017, legal fees never exceeded $6,000 and averaged $4,400. In the first year of their term the fees were $30,657.
Four months into this budget year, they already are $12,420. I think it’s time to stop looking at the road district and concentrate on looking for ways to have oversight on the trustees!
They want us to vote to eliminate the road district and trust them to manage our roads. We have a licensed professional engineer as our highway commissioner who saves the road district tens of thousands annually by completing drainage work himself. I can only imagine the cost of engineering fees if they were put in charge.
I will be voting NO to eliminate the road district. I will be voting NO in hopes this will end the craziness propagated by the current trustees. The voters deserve the REAL facts about the road district elimination. Not the lies told by the trustees.
