A 27-year-old Harvard man serving probation again found himself in the McHenry County Jail after police said he held a woman by her neck and beat her.
Sean M. Damiano is accused of grabbing a woman he knew and punching her face and body, according to a criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court.
Damiano, of the 22100 block of Dunham Road, Harvard, has been charged with domestic battery, which typically results in less than a year in jail if convicted.
Sheriff’s deputies responded at
7:13 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a possible battery incident that followed a verbal dispute, McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputy Sandra Rogers said Friday.
The woman contacted the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, and Damiano subsequently was arrested.
In January 2016, an investigation led police to Damiano, who was accused of stealing pills from the Walgreens at
305 S. Eastwood Drive, where he worked.
Officers believe Damiano stole more than 1,800 hydrocodone pills – worth about $1,700 – from the pharmacy over a period of several months.
Damiano faced as many as 30 years in prison. In April, however, he accepted a plea deal to a less serious possession charge. McHenry County Judge Sharon Prather ordered him to serve two years of a type of probation reserved for first-time felony drug offenders.
It is unclear how the most recent charges against Damiano might affect his previous sentence. Damiano is free on bond and expected back in court Thursday.
