To the Editor:
Metra, Metra, Metra ...
Again, you’re closing another ticket sale office! First Harvard and now this time in Des Plaines; now I can’t buy a monthly pass at either end of my commute. If I were a paranoid man, I would think you’re out to get me. I know that’s not the case. Uncanny though. I’m sure it’s to “serve us better;” that was the Harvard closing excuse.
I pay cash ... I like cash ... I still believe in cash. I don’t want to, and shouldn’t have to be forced to buy my pass online or use the Ventra App or give my credit card, or my personal information to anyone I don’t want to or distrust.
The common rumor up and down the Northwest Line is that Metra wants everyone to use the Ventra app and is closing ticket sales to make it happen.
Sounds like that’s bordering on fascism. I choose not to believe that. I’m sure Metra is looking out for everyone and is considering everyone’s needs.
I believe there still is a way to buy a monthly pass with some old school, good old American cash.
Walk up to the window, lay your cash down and get your pass. End of business.
You get what you want. I get what I want. No middleman.
