A choral music concert will be presented at 4 p.m. Oct. 27 at First Congregational Church, 461 Pierson St., Crystal Lake. The event is free and open to the public.
The festival choir will be comprised of adult singers from the host church, as well as choristers from several other churches in the Chicago area.
The Illinois chapter of the American Choral Directors Association sponsors the one-day festival as a way to support music in worship, emphasize unity and to inspire choral singing as a lifelong experience. Members were invited to send singers to spend a day working with guest conductor Jeff Hunt, the artistic director of the St. Charles Singers, a professional ensemble, and director of the choirs at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Charles, Illinois.
The American Choral Directors Association is a nonprofit organization whose central purpose is to promote excellence in choral music through performance, composition, publication, research and teaching. In addition, ACDA strives through arts advocacy to elevate choral music’s position in society.
