Letter: Vote for Kelli Wegener

To the Editor:

Since the No. 1 complaint in McHenry County is high taxes, we should elect County Board members who have strong financial and budgeting skills. I support Kelli Wegener, a former bank examiner, current financial administrator and a straight shooter who will ensure our tax dollars are well spent. She not only agrees with the reduction of the County Board from 24 to 18, but feels it could be reduced even more.

Kelli also advocates for the elimination of board member’s medical and dental coverage paid for by our tax dollars.

County Board members are part-time positions paid $21,000 per year, and she feels they should not be receiving benefits not available to other part-time county employees. Tax payers could save up to 50 percent of the $900,000 currently spent per year on County Board member salaries and benefits.
