To the Editor:
If you get a chance, please watch the interviews by the Northwest Herald of McHenry Township Highway Commissioner Jim Condon and McHenry Township Trustee Bob Anderson.
I believe the purpose of the interview was to provide information on the upcoming referendum to eliminate the road district and have trustees manage the roads. After viewing these videos, there is no way I would want Trustee Anderson managing our roads. Trustee Anderson didn’t appear to have any real answers how trustees would manage the roads and how it would save money.
I believe his reply was we will have two and half years to figure that out. Right, another politician promising saving which they aren’t sure where it will come from.
On the other hand, Highway Commissioner Condon, a licensed professional engineer, answers questions professionally and accurately. He clearly points out that if the benefits of eliminating the road district outweigh the benefits of keeping the road district, he would support it. Unfortunately for Anderson, Condon points out the opposite is probably true. Highway Commissioner Condon clearly states why it is more likely that taxes will go up, services will be cut or both will occur.
In November, vote no on eliminating the road district. Let’s keep the professional engineer doing what he is qualified to do and leaving Trustee Anderson to his barber shop.
Lastly, thank you Northwest Herald for providing these opportunities for real facts.
