To the Editor:
So after six years of Santa Run success, we are getting the finishing touches done for our seventh event. We always hold the event on the first Sunday of December at the Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake.
This year it is Dec. 2.
The focus is on family fun for a fantastic cause. Participants in the 5K can run or walk.
They also get a full five-piece Santa suit, including a beard and hat. This is an amazing sight to see. This sea of Santas circling the city streets is something you will never forget.
For those that want to participate, but want a shorter route, we also offer a 1-mile run or walk.
The proceeds go to several nonprofit agencies in our county, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Turning Point, CASA, Girls on the Run of Northwest Illinois, Main Stay Therapeutic farm and the Crystal Lake Kiwanis Club.
Collectively, they are helping 4,050 kids and 12 local agencies every year.

We are always grateful to have more sponsors, participants and volunteers. We are changing lives in a positive way.
