To the Editor:
Less than 10 days ago, a water main broke in Hebron. Many homes were without water while repairs were being made. Others had their water running at a trickle. At first, the reason behind the water issue was unknown to me. I had to call around to friends and family before getting answers.
Apparently, the fire department was thoughtful enough to notify followers on social media that a boil order was in effect.
However, I am not a fan of Facebook, and therefore was unaware that town water users should be boiling the town water until further notice.
I am extremely upset because my water was running at a trickle and I used it to rinse pacifiers and would not have done so if I had known the water was unsafe.
Why doesn’t the town have an automated call system to alert residents? Why wasn’t more done to inform residents? I feel that the powers that be were very irresponsible in handling this matter.
Something needs to be done to prevent issues like this from arising in the future.
