Crystal Lake South boys soccer junior forward Alex Canfield earned Allstate All-America honors Tuesday.

Canfield is one of 150 high school juniors – 75 boys and 75 girls – named to the Allstate All-America team. He is one of seven boys soccer players from Illinois who were named to the team Tuesday.

Canfield scored 31 goals and had seven assists for the Gators’ Class 2A state championship team this fall.

The Allstate All-America team is a new program, in collaboration with MaxPreps, that evaluated almost 800,000 players across the country. Additionally, 40 boys and 40 girls selected as Allstate All-Americans will play in the Allstate All-America Cup next summer. The games will be played during the MLS All-Star Game festivities in Orlando, Florida, and televised on ESPNU.
