Letter: Who is responsible?

To the Editor:

Some elected village and township officials in McHenry County display a remarkable lack of cooperation, courtesy and more. Legal fees are incurred, which are paid with our public funds, and time is wasted in bitterness. These officials were elected by us, and we have placed our trust in them to attend to the public business, not wrangle in the media spotlight. While these individuals are poorly suited to public service, our deep gratitude goes out to those who fill these roles and spend long hours serving our needs.

What can we do about those who do not manage that? Is it true that Algonquin Township bought salt twice, without bidding it out, and paid a very high price? Who will right this wrong? If true, why hasn’t anything been done? Should this individual or the responsible parties be removed from office? Or do the laws only apply to you and I?
