A Lake in the Hills woman accused of accidentally shooting another woman during a dispute over the weekend was released Tuesday from the McHenry County Jail.
Lake in the Hills police responded at 4:18 a.m. Saturday to the 400 block of Plum Road after a report of a woman who had been shot, according to a news release.
Officers determined that 26-year-old Alexandria Farrington unintentionally shot a 29-year-old woman she knew in the left shoulder, the release stated.
The situation began when Farrington allegedly retrieved a Sig Sauer 9 mm handgun and waved it in the other woman’s direction, according to a criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court Monday.
A physical altercation ensued, causing Farrington to discharge the gun, according to the complaint.
Officers found and recovered the handgun at the scene, and the woman who was shot was taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital to be treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Reached by phone Tuesday evening, Farrington referred the Northwest Herald to her attorney, Gary Foley, who could not be reached for comment.
Farrington is charged with reckless conduct and reckless discharge of a firearm. She is due in court Wednesday morning.
