Lake in the Hills has announced the winners of the 2018 Gordon Larsen Business Achievement Award.
The annual awards recognize businesses that excel in categories such as community service and customer service.
Compassionate Dental Care was recognized for Best Community Service; Ira’s Bagels was recognized for Best Customer Service; and ABC School of Cosmetology, Barbering, Esthetics and Nail Technology was recognized as Best Employer of Choice.
Management analyst Tricia O’Donnell said 134 nominations were received.
Compassionate Dental Care received 18 nominations for customer and community service.
The company, established in the village in 2017, gave away $30,000 in dental work for National Smile Day and collected about 500 toys in 2018 as part of its Toys for Teeth program.
Ira’s Bagels received nine nominations for Best Customer Service in 2018. Nominations highlighted the high-quality products and friendly atmosphere that makes customers feel like part of the family.
ABC School earned 15 nominations as Employer of Choice. Several employees submitted nominations and praised owner Cindy Heidemann for her generosity both to the community and her employees.
Each business will receive a number of free advertising incentives, such as ad space in the Parks and Recreation Department’s summer brochure and a front-page story in the Village Messenger newsletter.
The three winners will be recognized during Thursday’s Village Board meeting at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 600 Harvest Gate.
