Woodstock School District 200 hosting kindergarten registration

Woodstock School District 200 will host kindergarten registration from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 5 at Verda Dierzen Early Learning Center for parents of children entering kindergarten in the fall.

During the event, parents will receive information about physicals, immunizations and Kids Club, and they will be able to apply for a library card from the Woodstock Public Library.

Parents interested in the kindergarten dual language program also must attend one of the additional informational meetings to learn about the available class options. Both presentations will be in English and Spanish. The meetings will be at 4:30 and 6 p.m. the same day.

To be eligible to attend kindergarten during the 2019-20 school year:

• Children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1.

• State law requires an original or certified copy of a child’s birth certificate at the time of registration. Hospital certificates are not acceptable.

• Parents also must provide proof of residency.

• A registration fee of $130 will be collected at the time of registration. A slight increase may be added to the current fee depending on action during District 200’s budget development process.

All meetings and registration sessions will be at Verda Dierzen Early Learning Center, 2045 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock.

Program preference forms and registration materials for District 200’s 2019-20 kindergarten classes will be due no later than Feb. 14. Parents of students selected for the dual language program will be notified at the end of March. If there are more applications than spaces available in the dual language program, a lottery will be held to choose student participants.
