A man wanted in Lake County on alleged sex charges stemming out of unincorporated Spring Grove was arrested Thursday in Texas.
Rajneish H. Poyser, 24, of San Antonio, Texas, was wanted for attempted criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office sent Friday. His bond was set at $300,000 for his arrest warrant.
If convicted of attempted criminal sexual assault, a Class 2 felony, Poyser could face three to seven years in prison.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report in July 2018 from a 23-year-old woman who said Poyser, an acquaintance of hers, was visiting from his home in Texas. While the two were at a home in the 38100 block of North State Park Road in unincorporated Spring Grove, Poyser made unwanted sexual advances toward the victim, according to the sheriff’s office.
Poyser blocked the victim’s path when she tried to leave the home, police said. He then pulled the victim's pants down and made sexual contact with her, according to the release. The victim was able to leave and drive to a nearby police station.
Lake County sheriff’s detectives obtained an arrest warrant on Jan. 8 for Poyser, and worked with members of the San Antonio U.S. Marshals Apprehension Unit, Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Team and U.S. Marshals Service – Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force to find Poyser at a home in San Antonio and arrest him.
Poyser was in possession of a firearm and illegal drugs during his arrest, according to the sheriff’s office. He remains in the Bexar County Jail in Texas pending criminal charges regarding the gun and drugs as he awaits extradition to Lake County, police said.
