To the Editor:
When is the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office going to look into the financial dealings of Algonquin Township? Or when are the township’s taxpayers going to be interested enough to attend meetings, submit Freedom of Information Act requests and look into overtime, vacation time and payment and severance pay?
If it was my hard-earned dollars at stake here, I would be at the next meeting raising a stink, or stopping by the office to drop off FOIA requests (email is OK, too). But these aren’t my dollars. They belong to the taxpayers of Algonquin Township. Who among you is willing to speak out about how your tax dollars have been spent?
Taxes too high? Use your voice not only at the ballot box but at the podium too. Or take pen to paper and write a letter. Staying quiet just means that you think things are copacetic. Are you sure about that?
