The McHenry County Conservation District will host a candlelight ski from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road, Crystal Lake.
Changes in weather and/or trail conditions this week may shift the event from a ski to a hike. Check MCCDistrict.org for the latest trail conditions or visit MCCD’s Facebook page.
Bring your own skis and test your skills along the 1-mile loop trail. Skiers of every level and age are invited. Drop in anytime for this free activity. Get some fresh air, exercise and enjoy the frosty night with hot chocolate and snacks around the campfire. Pets are not allowed.
Solar-lit trails are open every night until 9 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Conservation Area in Woodstock, (a ½-mile loop through the prairie) and at Hickory Grove Highlands in Cary (a 1-mile loop through the wooded savanna). After March 10, sites close at sunset.
