A house fire Sunday afternoon in the 2600 block of Fair Oak Lane in McHenry caused about $10,000 in damage and left the home uninhabitable, McHenry Township Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Dave Harwood said.
Crews responded to the scene about 4:30 p.m. and discovered smoke coming from the back of a one-story residence. The Nunda Rural Fire Protection District and Wauconda Fire District arrived at the scene in response to automatic aid requests but were sent away, Harwood said.
Three people were inside the house at the time of the call, and all of them got out safely, Harwood said.
Although it took about 10 minutes to extinguish the fire, crews had to perform some overhaul to the home and shut off the gas and power, leaving the home uninhabitable at the moment, Harwood said.
In the mean time, the inhabitants will be staying with other family, he said.
No injuries were reported.
Although the McHenry Township Fire Protection District still is investigating the fire, Harwood said it does not appear to be suspicious.
