A McHenry man whose history prosecutors said includes six previous driving under the influence arrests is due in court Wednesday on a Class X felony DUI charge.
Officers arrested 45-year-old Danilo Romero-Morales on Friday after claims that the man drove under the influence of alcohol July 28 in the area of Chapel Hill Road and Cobblestone Drive, court records show.
Romero-Morales, of the 3800 block of Waukegan Road, has 14 previous convictions of driving with a suspended or revoked license, according to an indictment filed in McHenry County court.
He also has been charged six times with driving under the influence, the indictment shows.
A grand jury formally charged him with the Class X DUI offense Dec. 20 along with a lower-level felony DUI charge and one count of driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Romero-Morales has been in the McHenry County Jail on a $150,000 bond since Friday. He would need to post $15,000 bail to be released.
Representatives from the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office could not be reached Monday to provide details about the charges or why the man was arrested months after the alleged drunken driving incident.
It was unclear Monday whether Romero-Morales has hired an attorney.
He is due in court Wednesday.
