A Woodstock man has been charged with multiple sex offenses involving a child, police said Friday.
Jose J. Vega, 31, of the 300 block of Railroad St., Woodstock, is charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, domestic battery, aggravated criminal sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of a child, according to a news release from Woodstock police.
Woodstock School District 200 contacted the police department Wednesday to report that a student had told school staff that she had been assaulted. A Woodstock detective then met with school staff, the Department of Children and Family Services, the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office and the McHenry County Child Advocacy Center.
An investigation revealed that a male family member allegedly had sexually assaulted the girl multiple times, according to the release.
Police arrested Vega on Thursday, and he is due in court at 9 a.m. Wednesday. His bond is set at $200,000, and he must post 10 percent to be released.
He could face six to 30 years in prison if convicted of the most serious charge.
