A juvenile has pleaded guilty to playing a role in a 2016 kidnapping and beating of an Elgin woman, and a Carpentersville woman has been sentenced in the case.

The juvenile’s name has not been released. Illinois law prohibits authorities from disclosing specific information about juvenile offenders, according to a news release from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.

On Friday, 22-year-old Megan A. Lino, of the 600 block of Jefferson Avenue, Carpentersville, was sentenced to 12 years in an Illinois Department of Corrections facility, according to the release.

Earlier this month, Lino pleaded guilty to partaking in a home invasion incident Feb. 26, 2016.

That’s when authorities said Lino and five others kidnapped a woman from an Elgin home, beat her, brought her to an Elgin apartment and continued to beat her, burn her with lit cigarettes and hold her against her will.

Co-defendants are Ruby M. Gomez, 23, of the 100 block of South Clifton Avenue, Elgin; Gino A. Moraca, 27, of the 300 block of Raymond Street, Elgin; Kassandra Delgado, 23, of the 200 block of McClure Avenue, Elgin; and Luis M. Palomar, 21, of the zero to 100 block of Clark Avenue, Lake in the Hills.

Each of them pleaded guilty in the case last year, and all were sentenced to prison.

Lino is eligible for day-for-day sentencing. She received credit for 232 days served in the Kane County Jail.
