High school girls basketball: Local shooters fall short in IHSA 3-Point Showdown

Five local sharpshooters competed in the IHSA girls basketball 3-Point Showdown on Thursday at Redbird Arena in Normal. None of the McHenry County athletes advanced past the preliminary round.

A total of 32 shooters competed in each class, with the top four in each class advancing to Friday’s finals.

McHenry’s Izzy Gscheidle made seven 3s in the Class 4A competition, three made baskets short of advancing. Also in Class 4A, Crystal Lake South’s Emma Rich made four shots.

In Class 3A, Marengo's Hannah Faber (four makes), Jennifer Heinberg (six) and Marissa Knobloch (six) came up short in their quest. As in 4A, the lowest advancing shooter made 10 shots.
