Write-in candidate Chris Carlsen has beat out former Island Lake Police Chief Anthony Sciarrone for a spot on the Island Lake Village Board, according to unofficial results.

Recently released write-in candidate results showed the owner of Chi-Town Dogs in Island Lake maintained the necessary votes to win a spot on the board.

Although results do not include provisional votes or late mail-ins, Carlsen received 195 votes in McHenry County and 21 more in Lake County, giving him a total of 216 votes.

Sciarrone had a combined vote total of 190. He was fired amid an investigation led by the mayor’s office in November.

Three seats on the board were up for grabs in Tuesday’s consolidated election and William Ziegler, Richard McLaughlin Jr. and Sciarrone ran.

McLaughlin took in the most votes – 542 – and incumbent Ziegler received 510 votes, according to unofficial voting totals in Lake and McHenry counties.
