McHenry man faces weapons, theft charges tied to burglary

A McHenry man has been charged with several felonies after allegedly burglarizing a McHenry Township home.

John Neveitt, 30, of McHenry is charged with residential burglary, theft and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested Tuesday and is being held on a $100,000 bond, according to the release.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call on March 15 in the 4700 block of Howard Street, near Johnsburg, for a reported burglary. Deputies learned that coins, firearms, jewelry and cash had been stolen, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office Criminal Investigation Division began work on the case which led to an arrest warrant for Neveitt. McHenry County’s Apprehension Unit along with the Great Lakes Regional Task Force arrested him Tuesday.

Neveitt was charged with manufacturing and delivering heroin in 2016, according to McHenry County Court records.
