To the Editor:
McHenry County has a lot of smart people, and that is part of the reason why one really enjoys living here. However, when there are issues, they sometimes get talked to death.
Right now, there are two, Valley Hi Nursing Home’s excess reserves and township reorganization. No one is overly concerned about my opinion, but just rebate the excess on the coming tax bills and forget it. Why make an accounting nightmare?
As to the township problems, we need accountability and cooperation. I attended one of the early meetings, and guess who was there, 99% of township employees. I wonder if they were all taking a vacation day at the same time or being paid by you and I?
There still will be work and jobs to be done, but we won’t have people like Andrew Gasser wasting our hard-earned dollars. Why should we own so much big equipment when intelligent planning might lead to better utilization and save everyone some money?
Let’s just get these two issues dealt with.
