College baseball: McHenry County College takes 2 from Moraine Valley CC

McHenry County College's Bryce Toussaint knocked in three runs in Game 1 of a doubleheader sweep Saturday against Moraine Valley in Palos Hills.

The Scots won the first game, 4-1, and earned a 5-2 victory in Game 2, moving to 29-8 and 16-4 in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference.

Jimmy Staab tossed all seven innings for the win in the opener, allowing an unearned run on three hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Huntley graduate Jeff Heinrich scored twice, and Ryan McGorrian (Jacobs) added an RBI.

Toussaint added two doubles in the second game, Travis Baily had a double and two RBIs, and Kory Olsen (Crystal Lake South) and Michael Lehner each drove in one. Justin Mercer gave up two runs (one earned) on six hits in 5 1/3 innings for the win, striking out five.

Matt Camp (Jacobs) picked up the save, striking out two over 1 2/3 scoreless innings.
