Briana Bower tossed a no-hitter Friday to lead Huntley to the Class 4A Harlem Regional championship with a six-inning, 11-1 win over Harlem in Machesney Park.
The regional title is the fifth straight for the Red Raiders (30-7), who advanced to play the winner of Barrington and Lake Zurich in a Hampshire Sectional semifinal at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Bower struck out 15 and walked two in six innings Friday. Harlem used two errors and a wild pitch in the third inning to score its run.
Grace Kutz, Lindsay Morgan, Teagan O'Rilley and Sofia Tenuta each hit home runs for the Raiders.
Tenuta drove in four runs, and Morgan had three RBIs. Kendra Mitchell was 3 for 4 with two runs scored, Reese Hunkins had two hits, and Marley Reicher had two hits, including a triple, and scored twice.
Class 1A State Tournament: The Prairie Ridge doubles team of Jared Arkell and Max Kueller went 1-1 on Day 2 in the consolation bracket to finish their season.
They defeated Peoria Richwoods' Sid Saxena and Abe Saxena, 8-3, before falling to St. Ignatius' Sener Gunsel and Aeneas Hines, 8-2.
Crystal Lake South's Jackson Schuetzle won his first consolation match of Friday's competition, 8-1, over Alleman's Jesse Dyer. He then lost to Champaign Centennial's Jared Thomas, 8-2.
Marian Central's Mike Dowling also went 1-1 to close out his season. He beat Sterling's Dillon Nitz, 8-4, and lost to Illinois Match and Science Academy's Bert Cao, 8-5.
Class 2A State Tournament: Jacobs' Thoman Nelson closed out his state tournament with a consolation loss, 8-6, to Streamwood's Alex Veltkamp.
Cary-Grove's Daniel Sowa and Thomas Conneen lost, 8-3, to Glenbrook South's Ben Soyfer & Daniel Deborin.
Barrington 11, Prairie Ridge 2: At the Hoffman Estates Sectional, the Wolves lost in the championship match against the Broncos.
