Man flown to hospital after being trapped under skid-steer loader in Kane County

A man was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Trauma Center in Libertyville Wednesday night after being trapped under a Bobcat Skid-Steer Loader, according to a news release from the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District.

Emergency services responded about 7:35 p.m. Wednesday to Lundstrom Lane in Kane County to find the victim, who is about 40 years old, at the bottom of a hill trapped under the toppled machine, according to the release.

Although crews had trouble accessing the scene because of the wet terrain, they were able to use extrication equipment and air bags to raise the skid-steer loader and safely remove the victim, according to the release.

The man was stabilized before being flown via Flight for Life to Condell. The patient’s condition as of Thursday morning was unknown.

Crews from the Huntley, Union, Hebron and Cary fire protection districts assisted at the scene.
