Harvard to undergo boil order following maintenance work

Maintenance work on the city of Harvard’s water main will require a boil order to be put in place for up to 48 hours starting Thursday.

Starting 8:30 a.m. Thursday, the city will be replacing a fire hydrant and water main valve at West Metzen and Razlaff streets, which will require water to be shut off for homes and businesses in the area. Water is expected to be off for about three or four hours, but it could go longer, according to a letter from Harvard Public Works Superintendent Jim Kruckenberg. The boil order will take effect once the water is turned back on.

Under a boil order, any water coming from the city water mains used for drinking purposes must be boiled first.

For information, call Kruckenberg at 815-943-4161 or 815-405-8807.
