The McHenry County Coroner's Office released the name of a 53-year-old woman struck and killed about 7 a.m. Tuesday while she was walking across the Metra tracks in downtown Cary.

Cynthia Bras Toriumi of Cary was identified as the person whose body was found near the railroad crossing on West Main Street near Route 14, interim McHenry County Coroner John Miller said.

The crash halted inbound and outbound trains along the UP Northwest line, a Metra spokesman said. Bras Toriumi was struck by train No. 603.

The incident appears to have been an accident, Cary Police Chief Patrick Finlon previously said in an email.

Cary police said in a Facebook post that anyone who was affected by the crash and would like guidance on how to process it can contact the department’s social services coordinator, Meghan Mumenthal, at 815-353-0721 or mmumenthal@aidcares.org.
