Police: 5 teens arrested in connection with stolen car from Wisconsin

Five teenagers were arrested Monday in connection with a stolen vehicle from Wisconsin, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

About 3:21 p.m., deputies saw a 2015 Dodge Durango near Route 31 and Rakow Road in Crystal Lake, the release said.

A license plate check determined that the vehicle was reported stolen in Wisconsin. Deputies tried to stop the vehicle near Route 31 and Manor Road, but the driver fled.

The vehicle was discovered on the Route 14 bridge over Route 31, where witnesses told deputies that six subjects fled on foot in two directions, according to the release.

Sheriff’s deputies were assisted by officers from Crystal Lake, the Crystal Lake Park District and Cary in their search for the suspects. At the end of the search, five of the six suspects were located and arrested, the release said.

Zishon Hunt, 19, of Zion appeared in rights court Tuesday morning and is in the McHenry County Jail on $60,000 bond. He is charged with felony possession of a stolen vehicle and aggravated fleeing and eluding. Hunt also is charged with misdemeanor reckless driving, obstructing identification and resisting/obstructing a peace officer, driving with no valid license and failure to report an incident, according to a criminal complaint filed at the McHenry County courthouse.

Hunt is accused of driving the vehicle “with willful and wanton disregard for the safety of persons of property” and causing $300 in damage. He also gave the arresting officer a false name, date and birth, according to the complaint. He is due back in court at 9 a.m. Thursday.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office also announced the arrests of Amil Little, 19; Izerion Cooper, 19; Maurice Dixon, 19; and a 15-year-old juvenile.

Little, Cooper, Dixon and the juvenile all were charged with resisting arrest. Bond was set a $1,500 for Little, Cooper and Dixon.

Dixon is due back in court at 1:30 p.m. July 18. Little and Cooper are due back in court at 1:30 p.m. July 25.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office shortly after 4 p.m. Monday warned residents near Routes 14 and 31 in Crystal Lake to lock their vehicles and report any suspicious activity, according to the office’s social media alerts, which also stated that deputies were investigating an incident in which multiple men had fled from a stolen vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing with the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Pleasant Prairie (Wisconsin) Police Department.
