A Verizon store is opening in Woodstock.
The Woodstock City Council recently approved plans to subdivide a lot in front of Blain’s Farm and Fleet where the store will go.
The property is off Route 14 near Lake Avenue. A shopping center also is on the property, housing businesses such as Starbucks and Aspen Dental.
The original parcel was a single lot adjacent to the shopping center. The developer wanted to divide the lot into two half-acre parcels, according to city documents.
The 3,000-square-foot Verizon store will stand alone in one of the newly created lots, according to city documents. No development plans currently exist for the second half-acre lot, according to city documents.
The Verizon building will meet setback requirements and have 24 parking spaces. An easement from Lake Avenue across the Blain’s Farm and Fleet parking lot will provide access to the newly subdivided lots, according to city documents.
Idaho-based Hawkins Company LLC will oversee the development of the Verizon building, according to city documents. The company has developed shopping centers, hotels, movie theaters, charter schools, and storage and residential properties, according to city documents.
The official tenant will be Cellular Sales of Knoxville, which is an authorized Verizon dealer with more than 600 locations across the U.S., according to city documents. The company was founded in 1993 in Tennessee, according to its website.
Verizon itself was founded in 2000 and operates globally. The company made $131 billion in revenue in 2018, according to its website.
There are three Verizon stores in McHenry County: in Crystal Lake, Lake in the Hills and McHenry, according to Verizon’s website.
There are multiple other authorized retailers throughout the county, including mobile phone stores such as GoWireless Woodstock, Mobile Generation Fox River Grove and Cellular Sales Huntley.
Cellular Sales of Knoxville operates the Huntley store, according to its website.
