A 19-year-old Huntley man will serve two years of probation after pleading guilty to sending a sexually explicit photo to a minor.

Joshua Rojas accepted an offer from the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office on Friday and pleaded guilty to a single count of distributing explicit material to a child. In exchange for Rojas’ guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed an additional misdemeanor exploitation charge.

He also is required to undergo sex offender treatment and submit to drug and alcohol tests as a part of his sentence, records show. Huntley police originally arrested Rojas in March, after receiving a report that the teen sent an inappropriate photo to a juvenile on Feb. 9. Rojas was not dating the person whom he sent the photo to, police have said.

Although Rojas was released from the McHenry County jail after posting bail in April, he was again detained in July, when prosecutors said he missed a court date.
