1 dead, another injured in Harvard SUV vs. tree crash

One person is dead and another was flown to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening Sunday evening after an SUV carrying two people struck a tree, fire officials say.

The Harvard Fire Protection District was called at 7:24 p.m. to the 21200 block of Oak Grove Road for a single-vehicle crash, Harvard Fire Chief Steve Harter said.

One person, whose identity has not been released, was killed in the crash. The second person inside the SUV was airlifted to Javon Bea Hospital – Riverside in Rockford to be treated for injuries, Harter said.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the situation, but could not immediately be reached to provide additional details, including how the crash occurred.
