Woodstock police are investigating after someone allegedly took cash and merchandise from a thrift store Monday.
Deputy Chief Ray Lanz said police responded about 2 p.m. Monday to the reported incident at TLC Treasures Resale Shop, 686 S. Eastwood Drive.
An employee was in the back of the store bringing in donated items when a woman came in and took items and cash from the register, store owner Terrie Casson-Thull said.
Casson-Thull said Monday that it wasn't unusual for an employee to assist patrons who are donating items.
"We rely solely on donations," she said. "We give back to the community. We donate to the schools, to the homeless shelter, to [Helping Paws Animal Shelter]."
She said there was less than $500 in the cash register and at least a doll and gold bracelet are missing. She added that police were responsive and helpful.
"They took a report and are going to follow through," she said. "They came fast. They were awesome."
The investigation is ongoing and police are looking for potential witnesses, Lanz said. If you have information about the incident call the non-emergency line at 815-338-2131.
