Marian Central's Ryan Jones took third place for the second week in a row at Veterans Acres Park in Crystal Lake, knocking almost a half-minute off his time from last week.
Jones, a senior, finished in 16:31.9 at Saturday's Crystal Lake South Cross Country Invitational, taking third, just as he did the week before in the McHenry County Meet.
Cary-Grove’s Maxum Caesar was fifth, and Marian Central’s Peter Walsdorf was seventh in the 20-team meet.
South was fifth as a team with 163 points, led by Alex Picchi (16th) and Topher Davis (20th). C-G was sixth with 177, led by Caesar and Ian Barnes (15th). Dundee-Crown’s Max Wizgird took 21st.
St. Charles East Leavy Invitational: At Leroy Oakes in St. Charles, Huntley’s Ian Geisler finished third in 15:25 at the 12-team meet. The Red Raiders finished fifth with 148 points.
East’s Bob Liking (14:59) and Micah Wilson (15:13) took first and second. The Saints won with 22 points.
Jacobs finished 10th as a team, led by sophomore Andre Doetsch in 23rd place.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Crystal Lake South Invitational: At Veteran Acres Park in Crystal Lake, Marian Central’s Siobhan Stoll took second on the course where she won the McHenry County Meet title the week before.
Stoll ran 19:12.7 for second place, one second behind Glenbrook South’s Kate Jortberg. Crystal Lake South’s Mackenzie Aldridge was third in 19:57.6. Cary-Grove’s Morgan Dieschbourg was fifth.
Aldridge and South’s Addie Frisch, who was seventh, led the Gators to third place with 64 points. Lake Zurich won with 52, Belvidere North was second with 62. There were 19 schools participating in the meet, although some did not have full teams.
Woodstock’s Shannon Koscinski was 19th, C-G’s Steph Dunphy was 21st, and Marian’s Caroline Binotti was 23rd.
St. Charles East Leavy Invitational: At Leroy Oakes in St. Charles, Huntley’s Bailey Wilk took ninth, and the Red Raiders took fourth as a team with 135 points in the 13-team meet.
Huntley's Breanna Burak was 22nd, Jacobs' Elisabeth Kania was 23rd, Jacobs' Aly Doherty was 27th, and Prairie Ridge's Collette Janik was 31st.
Joliet Catholic 2, Marian Central 1: At Woodstock, the Hilltoppers handed the Hurricanes (4-2, 1-1) their first loss in an East Suburban Catholic Conference game.
Christopher Ghita scored an unassisted goal for Marian, and goalkeeper Caleb Taylor made 19 saves.
Crystal Lake South 7, North Chicago 0: At the Wauconda Tournament, Michal Dejworek scored four goals as the Gators (3-1-2) beat the Warhawks.
Sam Bahnfleth, Deven Tinajero and Tom Coughlin also scored for South. Tommy Ciezadlo had three assists, Bahnfleth had two, and Dejworek and Tyler Getzinger each had one.
Huntley quadrangular: The Red Raiders (1-3-1) picked up their first win of the season in their second game of the day, 2-1, over Larkin in a penalty-kick shootout.
Gabriel Majocha scored off Raphael Wong’s assist in the 41st minute. The Raiders won the shootout, 4-1.
Huntley lost to Guilford, 1-0, in a penalty-kick shootout in its earlier game. The Vikings won that shootout, 4-2.
Palatine 3, McHenry 2: At the Wauconda Tournament, Angel Amaya and Edwin Navas scored goals as the Warriors (2-2-2) fell to the Pirates.
Jose Lira and Vaughn Hodges both had an assist for McHenry. Troy Duginski made four saves in the first half, and Logan Freid made two in the second.
Prairie Ridge 8, Marengo 0: At Crystal Lake, Cade Collins scored three goals, and Michael Thompson added two as the Wolves (3-2) defeated the Indians in their nonconference game.
Luke Wolf, Ethan Covers and Tyus Whitfield each scored a goal. Whitfield had three assists, Luke Kim had two, and Collins, Alex Pajak and Owen Erikson each had one.
Cary-Grove Invitational: The Trojans (10-2) won all four of their dual meets in their own tournament, led by Grace O’Malley and Kate Larry, who were unbeaten at No. 3 doubles. That duo did not lose a set in four matches.
C-G’s Alina Krembuszewski and Karina Los went 3-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Olivia Schladt and Jenna Briggs were 3-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Rochelle Invitational: At Rochelle, McHenry (7-3) beat Rockford Lutheran, 5-25, 25-23, 25-21, to capture the tournament championship. The Warriors were 5-0 in the tournament.
Oregon Tournament: At Oregon, Woodstock North (3-4) finished 3-2 at the two-day event, beating Oregon, 25-17, 25-23, Prophetstown, 24-26, 25-17, 15-7, and Keith Country Day, 25-18, 25-18.
Brooke Amann had 67 kills, 30 digs, 10 aces and three blocks, and Kylie Schulze had 101 assists and 42 digs. Alyssa Wickersheim had 14 kills, Cadence Klasek had 10 kills, Avery Crabill had 11 kills, and Madison Miller had 31 digs.
