A Crystal Lake man accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the family-owned Woodstock paper supplier he once worked for, is charged with falsely reporting the business as permanently closed on Google.

On Wednesday, Woodstock police arrested Russell D. Cisco, of the
900 block of Boxwood Drive on allegations that he altered his ex-employer’s Google business information Jan. 7. Cisco is charged in McHenry County court with computer tampering, a felony typically punishable by one to three years in prison.

According to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday, Cisco, a former employee of Guy’s E. Paper in Woodstock, accessed the company’s Google business account to delete its address and contact information. He also reported the business as being permanently closed, court records show.

Cisco is accused of doing the same to Quality Converting LLC, another business owned by his former paper supply store employer, police said.

Officers arrested Cisco on separate felony theft charges in November, after he was accused of stealing more than $51,930 from Guy’s E. Paper over the course of several years.

Cisco’s attorney, Thomas Loizzo, could not immediately be reached to comment on the most recent charges.

A Guy’s E. Paper employee first became suspicious of Cisco in June 2018, when he noticed funds had been transferred in and out of accounts he didn’t recognize, Woodstock police said at the time. Police believe Cisco moved money from the business’ Paypal account into his personal account, according to a 2018 criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court.

Cisco is due in court Oct. 9 on the 2018 theft charges and Oct. 10 on the computer tampering allegations.
