To the Editor:
It was nice and timely to see the Northwest Herald provide space to Jane Farmer, executive director of Turning Point of McHenry County (turningpt.org) to allow her to share with your readers the overall mission and the programs that Turning Point provides the residents of McHenry County.
As she stated, there are untold number of women and children in our county who are in need of protection from an abusive partner or family member. Turning Point provides a safe haven, 24/7, for our fellow residents who need temporary shelter. Turning Point deserves our financial support.
In the next few weeks, homeowners in McHenry County who applied for the Valley Hi rebate will be receiving our checks. I’d like to suggest that if you are expecting this rebate, and are financially able, that you consider passing your rebate along to a worthy nonprofit organization in McHenry County such as Turning Point.
There are numerous organizations that are working to make our county a better place to live and raise a family.
The individual residents of Valley Hi also deserve our support.
There’s a wish list of personal items posted on the website (mchenrycountyil.gov/valley-hi-nursing-home/announcements) at the bottom of the announcements page. They would appreciate any support that you would be willing to give.
We’re all blessed to be a blessing. Our generosity will be appreciated by any organization you choose to support.
