High school volleyball: Marian Central's Brummond resigns after 8 seasons with program

After eight seasons with Marian Central’s volleyball program, the last three as head coach, Patty Brummond is stepping down.

Hurricanes athletic director Curtis Price announced Brummond’s decision Friday. Her teams were 40-67 over the last three seasons. Brummond served as head freshman coach in five seasons before taking over as head varsity coach.

“I had a family health situation this season that required me to step away from Marian Central volleyball for a while,” Brummond said. “My life is changing and I’m ready for a new chapter. I am grateful to my coaches, ADs and, of course, the amazing student-athletes at Marian Central for their support and memories we made together. I wish them all the best and I know they wish me the same.”

Price lauded Brumnond for her contributions.

“She has been a tremendous asset to the Marian Central community,” Price said. “Her hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed. Coach Brummond was dedicated to the volleyball program and to the well-being of all of her student-athletes. Her passion and enthusiasm will be missed.”
