High school sports roundup for Saturday, Nov. 30

Marian Central's wrestling team crowned five individual champions and was the runner-up at Antioch's 18-team Ted DeRousse Invitational on Saturday in Antioch.

Chesterton (Indiana) grabbed the tournament title with 454.5 points. The Hurricanes (426) were second and placed eight wrestlers in the top three of their respective weight classes. Woodstock (213.5) took ninth and Dundee-Crown (169) was 12th.

Taking first for the Hurricanes were Elon Rodriguez (120 pounds), Daniel Valeria (132), Bryce Shelton (138), Kaden Randazzo (160) and Dylan Connell (170). Scott Burke (126) and Nico Lopez (182) both took second, and Nick Davidson (106) finished third.

Woodstock's Cooper Adams won at 152 pounds. Dundee-Crown's Wyatt Griggel was third at 182 pounds.

Barrington Moore/Perryman Invite: At Barrington, Jacobs' Jake Harrier (138) and Alex Epstein (145) and Crystal Lake Central's Caden Ernd (160) all earned first-place finishes. Jacobs' Ryan Golnick (220) and Prairie Ridge's Tommy Evans (182) finished second.

Central's Brenden Parks (170) took fourth, Dylan Carlson (132) was sixth, and Julian Ryerson (195) was eighth.

Hampshire's Nathan Larson was 10th at 152 pounds.

McHenry Thanksgiving Duals: At McHenry, the Warriors lost to Aurora Christian, 57-16, Montini, 75-6, and Providence Catholic, 54-27.

Brody Hallin (152) went 2-1 with a pin and a major decision, Luke Zunkel (195) was 1-1 with a pin, and Lucas Logan (160) won his only match by decision.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Huntley 66, Lake Zurich 36: At the Johnsburg/Richmond-Burton Thanksgiving Tournament in Richmond, Uchenna Egekeze scored a game-high 24 points and Ryan Sroka had 14 to lead the Red Raiders (4-0) past the Bears in the championship game.

Sroka was named tournament MVP. Egekeze and Ryan Crosby also made the all-tournament team.

Johnsburg 56, Richmond-Burton 36: At the Johnsburg/Richmond-Burton Thanksgiving Tournament in Richmond, Joey Comstock scored 13 points for the Skyhawks (1-3) in their first win. Johnsburg had 12 3-pointers.

Stanley Thill added 12 points on four 3s, Josh Notriano had 11 points and three 3s, and Dylan Schmidt tossed in 10 points and two 3s. Thomas Griffin led the Rockets (1-3) with 11 points and two 3s. Jacob Barthel scored seven points, and Jacob Abate tossed in six for R-B.

Crystal Lake South 65, Wauconda 64: At the Johnsburg/Richmond-Burton Thanksgiving Tournament in Richmond, the Gators got by the Bulldogs to take third place out of eight teams.

Damir Glamoc led South (3-1) with 22 points, Tyler Miller tossed in 12, and Cooper LePage added 11. Isaiah Kirkeeng had eight points.

Glamoc and Miller were named to the all-tournament team.

Marengo 66, Streator 49: At the Ottawa Dean Riley Shootin' the Rock Thanksgiving Tournament, Matt Volkening scored 26 points to pace the Indians (3-1) in the third-place game against the Bulldogs. Volkening had five of Marengo's 11 3s.

Brady Cannon added 12 points on four 3s, Aiden Smith recorded nine points, eight rebounds and two 3s, and Jonah Pace had eight points.

Dundee-Crown 61, Yorkville 49: At the Leland G. Strombom Holiday Tournament in Sycamore, Doug Miller had 24 points for the Chargers (3-1) in a win over the Foxes in the third-place game.

Kennon Cook tossed in 15 points, Kyle Huber had 11 points, and Justin Prusko added eight. Miller and Huber both made three 3s.

Cary-Grove 52, Palatine 42: At the Palatine Ed Molitor Thanksgiving Classic, Beau Frericks had 24 points to lead the Trojans (3-1) to a victory over the Pirates in the third-place game.

Jacobs 52, Hersey 43: At the Palatine Ed Molitor Thanksgiving Classic, Max Stec was one of three Golden Eagles' players to score in double figures in a win over the Huskies. Stec recorded 14 points and three steals, Jaden Henderson chipped in 11 points and six rebounds, and Robert Pennel added 10 points for Jacobs (3-1).

Pennel was 7 for 8 on free throws.

Hampshire 71, Plainfield East 56: At the St. Charles East Ron Johnson Thanksgiving Tournament, Nick Erickson had 21 points and made two 3s for the Whip-Purs (1-3) in their first win to take seventh place.

Jeremy Rosa had 15 points and Collin Woods added 13. Keynan Davis and Jackson Milison had six points apiece.

Belvidere North 44, McHenry 28: At the Crystal Central Thanksgiving Tournament, the Warriors fell to 0-4 with a loss to the Blue Thunder. Kyle Kempf tossed in eight points to lead McHenry. Matt Gallimore, Brett Loeding and Adam Benton added six points apiece.

Gallimore and Loeding each made two 3s.

Barrington 59, Prairie Ridge 27: At the Crystal Lake Central Thanksgiving Tournament, the Wolves (0-4) lost their tournament finale to the Broncos.

Chase Johnson and Ryan Hansen had eight points and two 3s each for Prairie Ridge. Sam Baser had five points.

Geneva 60, Crystal Lake Central 34: At the Crystal Lake Central Thanksgiving Tournament, Ryan Mendoza had 17 points and two 3s for the Tigers (1-3), who lost in the finale to the Vikings.

Caleb Noennig tossed in six points, making all four of his free throws in the fourth.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Hampshire 50, Hoffman Estates 23: At the Hoffman Estates Invite, Kelby Bannerman tossed in 20 points and eight blocks to lead the Whip-Purs (3-2) to their third straight win since an 0-2 start.

Alyssa Cork scored 11 points, and Ceili Ramirez added nine points and two 3s.

Marian Central 44, St. Charles East 36: At the Benet Tip-Off Tournament in Lisle, the Hurricanes (1-5) picked up their first win.

Barrington 51, Crystal Lake Central 30: At the Bison Classic in Buffalo Grove, the Tigers fell to 0-5 with a loss to the Fillies.
