A head-on collision on Route 14 in Harvard on Sunday morning left two people hospitalized with significant injuries, a Harvard fire official said on Monday.
Harvard Fire Protection District crews responded about 10:30 a.m. to the crash, which occurred just north of Oak Grove Road, Deputy Fire Chief Don Davidson said.
Due to the severity of the crash, Davidson said both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles, a process which took less than 10 minutes.
Both drivers were flown to Javon Bea Hospital on Riverside Boulevard in Rockford.
Crews remained on scene for about an hour, Davidson said.
Harvard was assisted by crews from Woodstock and Hebron. Flight for Life, MD-1, React and the Walworth Fire Department also responded to help with the crash.
