To the Editor:
Here we are, once again reading half-truths peddled by the barber from Wonder Lake. In his Letter to the Editor published Thursday, McHenry Township Trustee Bob Anderson mentions the township has more than $11.6 million in deluxe building/facilities, etc., paid for on the backs of McHenry Township taxpayers. He makes these claims based on the township’s insurance policy insuring the facilities for their replacement value.
However, as with most shady, self-promoting politicians, Anderson leaves out the important facts.
For example, the food pantry he referenced for a value of $345,000 only cost the township a fraction of that because of donations from private residences and businesses in the area.
The referenced snow shelter, valued at $92,000, cost the township nowhere near the insured value because of resourcefulness of township staff in acquiring a grant and donations from local snowmobile clubs. And the list goes on.
Thanks to significant donations of time, talent and treasure from companies such as Thelen Construction and Smith Engineering, we have a beautiful park for all to enjoy, and at a cost much less than claimed by Barber Bob. He then continues in his rant regarding things such as patronage and cronyism. Perhaps he needs to be reminded the only reason he is a township trustee is because of a backroom deal to steal the Republican name in his last election, a letter for another day.
In addition, who can deny his cronyism appointment of Steve Verr, perhaps the most unqualified obstructionist to ever hold the office of township trustee?
