As live music plays, quartet of artists will showcase work
HARVARD - Gabriel Karagianis has plenty to do before May 12.
"This weekend is definitely going to be a productive weekend," Karagianis said Thursday. "We're going to be doing most of the hanging and getting all of the work together."
That's because on May 12, the 25-year-old Woodstock resident will join with three other up-and-coming artists from Woodstock for a show in Harvard. The KOSBE Art Show will run May 12 and 13, and May 26 and 27 at Karagianis' studio in the historic Starline Building, 306 Front St.
"It's all very contemporary," he said. "We all really try to be as experimental as possible."
Sculptor Alec Botian, Amanda Aleman, a mixed-media artist, painter Chris Gatusso and Karagianis, also a painter, put their pieces on public display. Viewers will receive refreshments and hear live music, Karagianis said.
"We want to put together kind of a full-sensory experience, a really interesting environment to view artwork," he said. "The building itself is kind of far-out."
Sue Richards, a Woodstock childcare provider and photographer, had Karagianis paint a mural in her home. She also attended a show that he conducted last autumn, an experience she said she would recommend to anyone.
"I would recommend they not only look at it but see where in their lives they might want to add some artwork that is inspiring," Richards said.
The show will be free and open to the public from 7 to 11 p.m. each night. For information, visit Karagianis' Web site, www.gabrielshorn.org.
