Timberlake to make appearance in Round Lake

ROUND LAKE -- Justin Timberlake will make an appearance on Wednessday, March 13, at Sharky's in Round Lake.

Joe Piagentini, owner and operator of Lake's Bowl, said he was able to get Timberlake for an "after concert" event, following his performance at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont. Timberlake will have two concerts at Allstate, on Monday and Tuesday, March 12 and 13, with opening act Pink and Timbaland.

"I was able to get him through one of the promoters I use," Piagentini said.

Fred Flemming with Flemming Enterprises was able to score Timberlake.

He said there will be approximately 800 tickets on sale, going for about $65 each.

Piagentini said he paid approximately $30,000 to get Timberlake. The pop icon won't be performing, but he will sign at least 30 autographs for fans and will "hang out" from approximately 1 to 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15.

The show will be for ages 21 and over, and will include performances by Fabulous James, and Jim and Justin of the Modern Day Romeos, as well as DJ music.

Piagentini said at other after-party events during Timberlake's tour, Pink and Timbaland have also shown up. He said he's even heard that Chicago Bear Brian Urlacher might show, "but of course, I have not way of knowing for sure."

Round Lake Police Chief Cliff Metaxa said his officers having been holding several meetings in preparation.   

"No one of his stardom or appeal has been here before," Metaxa said.

He said the community could be overrun with paparazzi as well.

"There are people out there who thrive on getting candid shots of celebrities," he added.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m., and they are only available to be picked up at Sharky's.

Piagentini said he's pretty sure there won't be any tickets available the night of the show.

"I really appreciate the help of Mayor Gentes [Bill Gentes, village board president of Round Lake] for extending our liquor license and helping making the event happen," Piagentini added.
