Sunday

Volleyball’s force being felt in CL

Volleyball is a big sport in the area.

Consider, after all, Crystal Lake Central recently completed an undefeated season on its way to a state title. More and more girls are playing volleyball. While many are playing volleyball, they are giving up other sports.

Basketball, for one, is being hurt by this. In Sports on Sunday, we examine the impact the popularity of volleyball in this area is having on basketball.

Patriots get perfect season in their view

So, yes, most people around here would rather the Bears be involved in Super Bowl XLII. But this alternative isn’t that bad.

The New England Patriots are on the verge of history. They can become the first team in the NFL to go an entire season without a loss since the 1972 Miami Dolphins. And for those who despise the Patriots and their coach, Bill Belichick, this game provides a great opportunity to root against them when the stakes are highest. The game will begin at 5 p.m. and can be seen on Fox.
