LAKE IN THE HILLS – The Lake in the Hills Sanitary District will increase its sewer-service and connection rates this summer by about 10 percent.
Sewer rates for a single-family dwelling will increase to $58 a quarter, up from $52.
Rates for senior citizens will increase to $49 a quarter, up from $44.
The connection rate for a single-family dwelling will increase to $4,520, up from $4,090.
Increased rates will become effective July 1 and will appear on the October bill.
Increases are needed to keep up with increased standards required by the Illinois and U.S. environmental protection agencies and higher sludge-disposal costs, according to a statement released by the sanitary district.
