U.S. Rep. Bean reports $1.5 million in campaign fund

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON – Illinois Congressman Melissa Bean reports having $1.55 million in her campaign fund as of July 1.

Bean – who upset longtime GOP incumbent Phil Crane in 2004 – raised about $423,000 in the second quarter for her race against Republican businessman Steve Greenberg.

That’s according to figures released by her campaign Tuesday.

Taken with expenses incurred in the last three months, that allowed her to gain about $200,000 over her cash on hand reported for the previous quarter.

Greenberg’s total for cash on hand was about $105,000 as of July 1st, after quarterly expenditures of about $132,000.

In April, his campaign reported having only about $5,000 in cash and debts of about $153,000.
