CHICAGO – A 22-year-old Hampshire man was one of two men who died of suspected alcohol poisoning in Chicago over the weekend, officials said.
Gabriel Chiu was found unresponsive in Hanover Park on Saturday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
In an unrelated incident on the same day, another man, 20-year-old Modesto Meraz, was found unresponsive shortly after noon on Chicago’s West Side.
Witnesses told police that Meraz had been drinking heavily Friday evening and had been observed sniffing fumes from aerosol cans.
The results of autopsies performed Sunday were not available.
