Worker hurt after driver hits truck

HAMPSHIRE – A tollway maintenance worker was treated and released from the hospital after his truck was hit by a driver alleged to be drunk.

The worker was shielding other workers with his truck during a rolling road closure when he was struck from behind by a 2006 Ford Expedition, Illinois State Police Sgt. Mark Brzeczek said. The crash occurred about 1:34 a.m. Friday near the 41-mile marker of I-90, west of Hampshire.

The driver of the Expedition, a 27-year-old Lombard man, was charged with driving under the influence.

There was only minor damage to both vehicles, Brzeczek said.

Brzeczek declined to release names of those involved.
